"Freedom Reigns"
"Freedom Reigns"
Oil hue paint and French conte crayon pastel mixed mediums applied on granite gessoed stretched canvas over a wooden frame.
36H x 36W x 2D inches
First textured layers of oil paint and conte pastel brushstrokes were made 2018, before the title "Freedom Reigns" existed. All that was in my mind at that time was contemplating the future of my life and all the opportunities that surrounded me. Time drifted forward, dust gathered on my passions and likewise on my canvas. I felt a calling from the vibrant pink swirls which I had left unattended to return - to complete its story. Hope that growth could be possible again encapsulates this piece as it and the viewer sit together in stillness. Vibrant pinks and greens skip across the stretched canvas to create clouds and possible imagery. Tall grasses as inspired by my landscape surroundings appear caught in mid-sway nestled within the foreground. I hope the viewer joins me in releasing our mid-breaths. Imagine a peaceful morning or evening being presently allowed to lay within the thickets, spending our time together looking up and watching clouds pass by.
